Automatic On-line Clad Plate
Ultrasonic Inspection System is a fully automatic CNC-controlled NDT system engineered for 100% volumetric inspection of various kinds clad plate for OCTG&other applications.
Equipped with high-performance ultrasonic transducer arrays, this unit achieves highly sensitive identification of longitudinal cracks, transverse fractures, inclined flaws and internal laminar delaminations. It is capable of performing precise full-length plate thickness measurement simultaneously with flaw detection within a single inspection pass.
All inspection procedures and data recording functions fully conform to stringent API 5CT and API 5L specifications, perfectly meeting rigorous quality control requirements for OCTG producers serving the worldwide oil and gas industry.

The machine operates on the ultrasonic pulse-echo technique. High-frequency ultrasonic waves (2–5 MHz) are generated by piezoelectric probes and transmitted into the pipe wall via water-coupling.
- No defect: Ultrasound travels through the wall and reflects from the inner surface, producing a back-wall echo.
- With defect: Waves reflect earlier at discontinuities (cracks, inclusions, laminations), generating a defect echo before the back-wall signal.
- The system calculates defect depth, size, and position based on echo time and amplitude, enabling accurate, repeatable, and high-speed inspection.
