Overview

Our Heavy-Duty Truss-Structure Welded Pipe
Ultrasonic Flaw Detector is a fully automatic CNC-controlled NDT system designed for 100% volumetric inspection of medium and large-diameter production tubing.
Fitted with high-performance ultrasonic transducer arrays, it delivers high-sensitivity detection for longitudinal cracks, transverse fractures, inclined flaws and internal laminar delaminations. The unit performs accurate full-length wall thickness measurement simultaneously with flaw detection within one inspection pass.
All inspection procedures and data recording fully conform to official API 5CT and API 5L standards, satisfying rigorous quality control requirements for OCTG manufacturers across the global oil and gas sector.
Working Principle
The machine operates on the ultrasonic pulse-echo technique. High-frequency ultrasonic waves (2–5 MHz) are generated by piezoelectric probes and transmitted into the pipe wall via water-coupling.
- No defect: Ultrasound travels through the wall and reflects from the inner surface, producing a back-wall echo.
- With defect: Waves reflect earlier at discontinuities (cracks, inclusions, laminations), generating a defect echo before the back-wall signal.
- The system calculates defect depth, size, and position based on echo time and amplitude, enabling accurate, repeatable, and high-speed inspection.
